It is our great pleasure to proclaim the release of the first issue of the Libyan Journal of Medical Sciences (LJMS). It makes us even more delighted to welcome you on board as authors, reviewers, and readers. This new open access, peer-reviewed journal is considered to be an updated version of the former official publication of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) “the Libyan Journal of Infectious Disease” which was launched in January 2007. It provides a forum for the publication of original research papers, reviews, short communications, case reports, and editorials directed at the interface of the fields of medicine and medical sciences.
It is the vision of the NCDC of Libya to have this Journal where all physicians and researchers from Libya and worldwide could share their scientific data and reports in all fields of medicine and medical sciences. We are very aware of the responsibilities that the editor's role entails, and we approach this new role with both excitement and willingness. Our main goal is to increase the readability and the presence of LJMS in the international research area by choosing the high-quality articles.
Peer-review remains a vital component of our assessment of submitted articles. We have assembled a distinguished expert group of Editorial Board Members who will assure a timely review of all manuscripts and maintain the highest standards of quality and scientific rigor, while providing equal opportunity for the publication of studies originating in either community. Other goals of interest are to reduce the time from acceptance till publication as well as increase the ranking of the Journal.
